Job Description

The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership and direction to members of the billing office staff. This position will manage the day to day responsibility of the billing office. This position will utilize ECHN core values in leading staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Establish and oversee the daily operational functions of Patient Financial Services. Determines methodology and resources for accomplishing goals, including customer implementation and integration, planning and scheduling, revenue and expense tracking and reporting, customer service, customer and associate training, quality assurance, and management reporting.
Develop consistent process to be used by team members in order to ensure goals are achieved.
Manage and develop standard work team, including training, orientation and coaching to achieve operational and service objectives
Manages the daily function of the Billing department and insures accounts are processed through the revenue cycle and paid appropriately
Manages system and operation performance to ensure effective operations while delivering quality service
Participate in the development and monitoring of operations budget as it relates to expenses and staffing. Take appropriate actions to ensure financial and staffing targets are met.
Manages Self Pay and Agency Collections and serves as facilitator.
Coordinate process development in payment posting, refund, customer services, collection and claims processing areas.
Work with staff to address patient/family member concerns and needs. Take appropriate action to ensure resolution.
Education, Certifications:
Must have a Bachelor's degree in business, finance, healthcare administration or a related field. Master's degree is desired.
Experience:
5 plus years of supervisory/leadership experience
5 plus years of medical business office or hospital experience
Working knowledge of reimbursement, billing requirements and regulations.
Working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations and guidelines.
Competencies:
Builds and maintains good working relationships, working collaboratively to do what is best for staff and patients.
Complies with all applicable laws, regulations and standards of the ECHN Corporate Compliance Code of Conduct
Demonstrates ability to make decisions, displaying initiative and awareness of what needs to be done to meet stated goals.
Shares the vision to support and achieve goals of ECHN
Proactively assesses problems and finds creative solutions that support the operational goals of Patient Financial Services
Provides consistent leadership to team members using the ECHN Core Values in all daily interactions
Medicare and Medicaid billing requirements
Intermediate ability to use Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Extensive knowledge of reimbursement and billing requirements and regulations
Fundamental knowledge and understanding of a billing system - Meditech experience is a plus.
